Why speed matters

Visitors leave slow pages, especially on mobile data. Paid clicks are wasted when the page appears after the visitor has gone. Google uses page experience signals, including Core Web Vitals, in ranking, and a fast page is simply easier for search engines and AI crawlers to fetch.

What we measure

• Largest Contentful Paint. How long until the main content appears.
• Interaction to Next Paint. How quickly the page responds to a tap or click.
• Cumulative Layout Shift. Whether the page jumps around as it loads.
• Total page weight and requests. What the page makes the visitor download.

We use field data from real Chrome users where Google has it, and lab tests on a mid-range phone over a mobile connection.

Common causes of a slow site, and the fixes

• Large images. Resized for each screen, compressed and served in modern formats.
• Too many plugins or scripts. Unused ones removed, the rest deferred or loaded only where needed.
• Heavy themes and page builders. Trimmed, or the key pages rebuilt lean.
• Web fonts. Fewer weights, preconnected and shown without blocking text.
• Third-party widgets. Chat, maps, social feeds and video embeds loaded only when a visitor uses them.
• No caching or compression. Browser caching, Gzip or Brotli and a content delivery network where it helps.
• Slow hosting. Advice on a better plan if the server itself is the bottleneck. See domain and hosting.
